Bob the Baker

Bob Smith had a lifelong love of baking, a passion that caught fire in him when he began working at Carondolet Bakery at the age of 13. He bought the bakery - St. Louis’s oldest - at 20 years old and spent the rest of his life waking early to bake for the city, quietly honing his craft over 47 years. Bob passed away in 2016, leaving a legacy that looms large over the city: his beloved bakery is currently under contract, patiently waiting for its next chapter to begin.
